Surat:Dr. Kratika Joshi, a practicing physician at the 'Heal and Cure' clinic situated in the Green Signature complex in Vesu, and her fiance, Hardik Nakrani, a diamond broker with a business in Mahidharpura, have reported an alleged fraud totaling Rs 4.3 lakh involving a cafe owner. The complaint, lodged at the Vesu police station, outlines the sequence of events. The accused, Vikram Dave, operates a cafe named KGF within the same complex and was known to Dr. Joshi as he and his wife would frequent her clinic for medical check-ups.
Dave approached Dr. Joshi, offering to assist her in acquiring two apartments within the SMS's awas scheme, located behind RahulRaj Mall, asserting that he would not charge any brokerage fees. Dr. Joshi discussed this proposition with her fiance, Nakrani, who subsequently met with Dave at his Mahidharpura office on October 11, 2023. During this meeting, Nakrani handed over Rs 3.7 lakh in cash to Dave. Additionally, on October 20, Dr. Joshi transferred Rs 60,000 to Dave via GooglePay.
Following the transactions, Dave assured them that the apartments would be secured within 15 days. However, when Dr. Joshi and Nakrani inquired about the progress after a month had passed, Dave responded with abuse and evasive excuses. Frustrated and realizing they had been deceived, they demanded the return of their money. Dave failed to comply with their request, prompting Dr. Joshi and Nakrani to seek assistance from the Vesu police.
Consequently, an FIR was filed on Saturday, invoking Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 294(b) (obscene acts or words) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
