Doctors in Tamil Nadu are unhappy with the government's plan to hire specialists through walk-in interviews. They believe this method is unfair and may lead to poor hiring decisions.
The government wants to fill vacant specialist positions quickly. Currently, doctors get these jobs after completing training and working in government hospitals. But under the new plan, anyone can apply directly through an interview.
Doctors worry that this process may not be transparent. They feel hiring should be based on merit through a proper selection process. In the past, similar methods have led to complaints about unfair practices.
They are asking the government to follow the usual recruitment process to ensure that only well-qualified doctors are chosen. This, they say, will improve healthcare services and maintain fairness in hiring.
Medical associations also warn that quick hiring without proper screening could affect the quality of patient care. They urge the government to focus on long-term solutions for filling vacancies instead of temporary fixes.
