In a remarkable medical achievement, a team of doctors in Kochi, Kerala, successfully reattached the severed right hand of 50-year-old Manoj, a resident of Angamaly. Manoj suffered the traumatic injury during a workplace accident, leaving him fearful about his future. He was initially treated at a private hospital in Aluva before being swiftly transferred to Aster Medcity in Kochi, arriving at the emergency department within 45 minutes of the incident.

Led by Dr. Manoj Sanap, senior consultant in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery, the medical team embarked on a complex 10-hour surgical procedure. The operation began with bone fixation, followed by meticulous microvascular surgery to repair multiple arteries, veins, and nerves. This intricate process was essential to restore blood flow and functionality to Manoj's hand. Dr. Sanap was assisted by Dr. Niranjana Suresh and Dr. Shruthi T.S. from the orthopaedics department.

Remarkably, Manoj was discharged just 14 days post-surgery. Now, three months into intensive physiotherapy and regular medical reviews, he is gradually regaining the use of his hand. This successful reattachment not only highlights the advanced medical capabilities available in Kerala but also offers Manoj a renewed lease on life, enabling him to return to daily activities with restored confidence.
