New Zealand’s public health system is under pressure as more than 4,300 planned surgeries have been cancelled due to ongoing protests by senior doctors and dentists. These health professionals are raising their voices against poor working conditions, staff shortages, and what they describe as a “broken” health system. The Association of Salaried Medical Specialists (ASMS), which represents senior medical staff, said the strikes were necessary as many doctors are overworked and underpaid.
