
Coimbatore: Late on Friday, Shyam Kumar, a 32-year-old doctor at a leading hospital in Coimbatore, was robbed of Rs 70,000 by two individuals at sickle point. Shyam, who resides in Ram Lakshmi Nagar, Masakkalipalayam, and works in Peelamedu, typically goes for a walk near Codissia every evening after work. At approximately 9 pm that Friday, while on his usual walk, he was accosted by the two assailants who demanded money. As he didn't have cash on him, they allegedly coerced him into transferring Rs 20,000 from his e-wallet to them. Under threat of their weapon, the assailants transported him to his residence on their motorcycle, where they compelled him to withdraw Rs 50,000 using his debit card from an ATM. Subsequently, they left him at Peelamedu Bridge around 1:50 am on Saturday. Shyam Kumar filed a police complaint on Saturday, leading to the registration of a case against the two perpetrators under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code. The police are currently conducting further investigation into the matter.
