Ernakulam: Two doctors died as their car plunged into a river in Ernakulam. The deceased are identified as Dr. Advaith (28), a Kollam native and Dr. Ajmal (28), a Kodungallur native. The doctors were employed at a private hospital in Kodungallur. There were also three others in the car with the two doctors and all the three were saved by the local residents and the fire force. The three people are identified as a doctor, an M.B.B.S student and a male nurse. The incident took place on Saturday midnight at 12.30 AM. The five people were returning home in a car after celebrating Dr. Advaith’s birthday party. They were depending on google maps hoping for a perfect path. Their journey was really difficult due to heavy rain and bad light. However, they didn’t realise that google maps was leading them through the wrong route. Ultimately, the five ended up driving into the Thekkethuruth River mistaking that it was a waterlogged road. The local residents who saw the incident quickly informed the police and the fire force. Soon, the local residents and the fire force started the rescue operations. Unfortunately, they couldn’t save Dr. Advaith and Dr. Ajmal. But, they were able to save the remaining three. The police informed that the condition of the injured passengers are stable. The bodies of the two doctors are shifted to the private hospital where the duo worked. The police said that further formalities including the inquest procedures will be initiated soon
