Vellore: On Saturday, near Alamelumangapuram in the outskirts of Vellore, a 60-year-old doctor named Dr. Debashish Danda, who was a professor and head of the Rheumatology Department at CMC Vellore, died in a car accident. According to sources, the car Dr. Danda was traveling in collided with a lorry around 2:30 pm. A press release from CMC stated that Dr. Danda obtained his MBBS degree from JIPMER Puducherry, MD in Internal Medicine from GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, and a postdoctoral degree in Clinical Immunology from SGPGIMS in Lucknow. Dr. Danda established the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at CMC and served as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases.
Mangaluru: Dr. Swati Shetty (24), a dentist and the daughter of Alvarabettu residents Ramanna Shetty and Jyothi Shetty, both prominent figures in the community, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, April 16.
