Navi Mumbai: In the latest incident on the recently built Atal Setu, a doctor residing in Parel allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off the sea bridge, located approximately 14km from Mumbai, on Monday afternoon. Authorities, still in search of her, revealed the discovery of a suicide note believed to be authored by Dr. Kinjal Shah (43), indicating her intention to end her life at the Atal Setu. According to police reports, Dr. Shah had been receiving treatment for depression for the past decade. Dr. Kinjal Shah hailed a taxi near Navin Asha building on Dadasaheb Phalke Road, her residence where she lived with her father Dr. Kantilal (92) and mother, aged 75. Within half an hour, she arrived at Nhava Sheva via Atal Setu. However, when she requested the driver to stop, he declined, according to Bhoiwada senior police inspector Subhash Borate. "She then asked him to make a U-turn and slow down. CCTV footage captured her disembarking from the taxi on the Mumbai-bound lane and leaping into the sea," he elaborated. The taxi driver promptly notified the Navi Mumbai police, who subsequently enlisted the help of fishermen and the coast guard in the search efforts. It was later revealed that Dr. Kantilal had filed a missing person report at the Bhoiwada police station upon discovering the 'suicide' note. Nhava Sheva senior police inspector Rajendra Kote affirmed that search operations are ongoing.
