Over the past four years, Rajasthan has seen a significant increase in medical graduates, with more than 14,000 new doctors entering the field. However, the state government has struggled to provide adequate employment opportunities, offering only 1,220 Medical Officer positions in the latest recruitment drive. This shortfall has led to growing frustration among medical graduates, who feel their careers and the state's healthcare system are being compromised.
The All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association (ARMDA) has been vocal about this issue, urging the government to increase the number of Medical Officer posts. They argue that the current vacancies are insufficient to meet the healthcare demands, especially in rural areas where medical professionals are scarce. Dr. Vinod Sharma, President of ARMDA, highlighted that while the number of medical institutions is rising, the availability of doctors is not keeping pace, leaving many villages without proper medical care.
In response to these concerns, the state government has initiated steps to address the shortage. Recently, the Medical and Health Department issued appointment orders for 4,088 positions, including 4,008 female health workers and 32 hospital caretakers. Additionally, 48 compassionate appointments were made to support deceased employees' families. Despite these efforts, medical professionals continue to advocate for regular and transparent recruitment processes to ensure that healthcare services are adequately staffed and accessible to all residents of Rajasthan.
