Puducherry: A resident doctor at the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute (IGGGHPGI) in Puducherry faced a severe neck injury after being attacked with a knife by the father of a patient who was apparently under the influence of alcohol late on Monday.

India has built the world’s first disaster hospital, that can be airlifted, packed in 72 cubes. These cubes can handle several severe injuries including 40 bullet injuries, 25 major bleeds, 25 major burns, around 10 head injuries, long limb fractures, spinal injuries, chest injuries and spinal fractures

Dr. Ishwar Chander Verma, who was honored with the Padma Shri award, and served as an advisor at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Genomics at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, has passed away, as confirmed by a statement from the hospital on Friday. 

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has voiced its dissatisfaction with what it perceives as the "cherry-picking" of Indian physicians to address the shortage of medical professionals in the UK's National Health Service (NHS), citing the lack of substantial benefits for the medical community in India.
