New Delhi: The rescheduling of the NEET PG 2024 exam date has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with aspiring doctors and current professionals expressing various concerns and criticisms regarding the decision. The National Medical Commission (NMC) announced on March 20th that the NEET PG 2024 exam would be moved up to June 23rd from its previous date of July 7th. This decision, made during a meeting, was a departure from the initial plan to hold the exam on March 3rd, which was later postponed to July 7th due to representations from aspirants. An advocate and child rights activist expressed concern over the rescheduling, stating that while the decision to push the exam to July was initially supported by students, the sudden advancement to June has caused distress among them once again. The All India Students’ Dental Association expressed bewilderment over the sudden rescheduling of the NEET PG 2024 exam, stating that initially, the decision to hold it in July was endorsed to accommodate more students, bringing relief. However, the abrupt change to June has caused distress among students, leaving them puzzled about the reasons for these frequent alterations. A pharmacy student remarked on social media about the advanced date, highlighting it as the first time such a change has occurred. Meanwhile, a doctor questioned the rationale behind advancing the exam date, expressing frustration over the inconsistency in scheduling and suggesting that those responsible may not fully grasp the challenges faced by students. Another doctor echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that decision-makers may be disconnected from the realities students face and are consequently facing backlash from the student community. One user criticized NBEMS, stating that even primary schools conduct exams properly, unlike the organization. Another urged Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to recognize doctors as humans and not circus animals, expressing frustration over the continuous postponement and advancement of exam dates. They pleaded for consistency and final dates in advance to alleviate the stress of exam preparation.
