The Delhi government has received approval from Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena to begin online recruitment of doctors, pharmacists, multipurpose health workers, and support staff for more than 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Advertisements for the vacancies will be released in the coming days, marking the start of a major staffing drive under National Health Mission guidelines.

A key update in the hiring rules is a 10-year relaxation in the maximum age limit—allowing candidates up to 55 years old (previously 45) to apply for medical officer positions, with similar adjustments for pharmacists and health workers. All appointments will be on contract and based on fixed monthly salaries, replacing the previous pay-per-patient model used in Mohalla Clinics.

The government aims to have 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operational by March 2026. These centres are being developed by expanding and converting the existing Mohalla Clinic network. While staff from the Mohalla Clinics, including many who have served for years, can apply, they must meet the new eligibility standards. The shift to fixed pay and formal hiring is expected to improve staffing stability and expand access to primary healthcare across the capital.
