The state government in the High Court said that there is no need for a CBI probe in Dr. Vandana Das murder case. The crime branch completed the investigation in the case and issued a charge sheet. The government has said that it can appoint a special public prosecutor if necessary. The government also informed the High Court that the parents were asked to suggest the name of the lawyer of interest. The court has allowed the defendant Sandeep to join the petition. It was Dr. Vandana's parents who approached the high court requesting for a CBI investigation. Vandana Das' parents approached the court claiming that they have no faith in the crime branch investigation and requested that the case should be left to the CBI. Vandana Das was killed on May 10, 2023. During the medical examination, accused Sandeep got angry and stabbed Vandana Das to death
