According to information obtained through the RTI from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), it has been disclosed that 242 medical aspirants have been disqualified from participating in the upcoming NEET-PG 2024 examination scheduled for July 7, 2024. As per the information provided by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through the RTI, it was revealed that during the counselling for the NEET PG 2023 exam, numerous seats were allocated to candidates in the special stray vacancy round. However, out of these allocations, a total of 242 candidates failed to report to their respective colleges. In line with the MCC guidelines, candidates who participated in the special stray vacancy round of NEET PG counselling, received a seat allocation, but failed to report to the designated college, face debarment from future NEET-PG examinations and counselling sessions. Additionally, the RTI revealed that each aspirant paid a security deposit of Rs 50,000 during the registration for the special stray vacancy round of NEET PG counselling 2023, resulting in a total forfeiture of Rs 1,21,00,000 by the authority. Furthermore, historical data reveals that in the 2022 session of the NEET PG exam, approximately 127 candidates were similarly barred from participating in the NEET PG 2023 exam due to the same issue, resulting in a total collection of Rs 63,50,000. Responding to this, health activist Dr. Vivek Pandey expressed concern, noting that preventing students from participating in the upcoming NEET PG 2024 exam and counselling sessions not only results in a significant loss of an academic year but also causes distress among the affected candidates. Moreover, he emphasized that while it is within the government's rights to impose fines as punitive measures, such penalties should be proportionate to the individuals involved. However, directly denying students the opportunity to take the exam violates their fundamental right to education. Feel free to share your thoughts or ask any questions regarding the MCC's decision to bar students from participating in the NEET PG 2024 exam in the comments section below, and we will provide a response.
