Russia has announced a major medical breakthrough with the development of a new cancer vaccine named Enteromix. The vaccine uses mRNA technology, similar to COVID-19 vaccines, to train the immune system to detect and attack cancer cells. Early trials focused on colorectal cancer and showed very promising results, with researchers reporting a 100% success rate in preventing tumor growth in the tested group.

The vaccine was created by the National Medical Research Radiology Centre and the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology. Unlike traditional treatments, Enteromix is designed to be personalized for each patient based on their tumor’s genetic profile. This approach aims to make treatment more effective and reduce damage to healthy cells.

Initial testing confirmed that the vaccine is safe for repeated use and significantly reduces or slows tumor growth. Reports indicate tumor shrinkage rates of 60% to 80% with no serious side effects. Research is also being conducted to create similar vaccines for other cancers, including glioblastoma and melanoma.

Experts have welcomed the development but warn that larger clinical trials are still needed before Enteromix can be used widely. They stress that the early results are encouraging but must be confirmed on a bigger scale to ensure safety and effectiveness for patients around the world.
