The Azad Maidan police have initiated a case against an unidentified individual for defrauding a 48-year-old doctor, Dr. Vibhor Pardasani, who works at Bombay Hospital, out of Rs67,500. Dr. Pardasani recounted in his complaint to the authorities that he had planned a summer vacation to Meghalaya with his family. While seeking accommodation online, he came across the Heritage Club Tripura Castle in Shillong via Google. Dr. Pardasani contacted a person named Pramod, purportedly representing the hotel, who convinced him to transfer Rs 67,500 to the hotel's account to reserve three rooms. Initially, Dr. Pardasani paid Rs 33,500 as an
advance, with the agreement to settle the remaining amount upon arrival. However, Pramod insisted on full payment citing supposed technical glitches with the system. Following Dr. Pardasani's compliance with Pramod's demand and settling the remaining sum, he received another call asserting that the payments had not reflected in the system. Pramod, yet again, insisted on the full amount and declined to refund the initial deposit. Unable to resolve the issue, Dr. Pardasani sought assistance from a friend based in Shillong, who conducted a local investigation. It was revealed that no individual named Pramod was associated with the Heritage Club Tripura Castle. Upon discovering the scam, Dr. Pardasani approached the police for assistance.
