
Pune: On Monday, the Mahalunge MIDC police filed charges against a pharmacist for allegedly assaulting a medical practitioner's modesty. The incident occurred on Saturday night at her hospital in Khed taluka. Sub-inspector G K Theurkar stated that, according to the complainant, around 8:30 pm on Saturday, the suspect entered her cabin, claiming credit for her patient influx and demanding a 50% share of the profits. When the victim rejected his demands, a heated argument ensued, during which the accused verbally abused her and physically pushed her against a wall. Following the incident, the victim raised an alarm immediately. With the assistance of one of her patients, she managed to push the man outside her cabin and promptly contacted her husband for help. Subsequently, the pharmacist returned to the hospital, where he verbally abused and physically assaulted her husband before fleeing the scene, as reported by the officer. The suspect has been charged under sections 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), according to Theurkar.
