The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three doctors in connection with an illegal ₹55 lakh bribe aimed at securing a favourable inspection report for a private medical college in Chhattisgarh. The investigation began after the CBI received information that officials from the Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Nava Raipur were collaborating with inspecting doctors and intermediaries to manipulate the formal inspection outcomes. The agency set up a trap and arrested six individuals, including the three doctors, during the transaction of the bribe in Bengaluru.
In addition to the arrests, the CBI carried out extensive searches at over 40 locations across six states—Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. Investigators noted that the accused used various tactics to influence inspection results, raising serious concerns about the fairness and integrity of medical college accreditation processes. All those arrested are expected to appear before the competent courts as the investigation continues.
