The Odisha government has approved a large recruitment drive to strengthen healthcare services across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that 1,840 doctors and more than 5,000 paramedical staff will be appointed soon, with special focus on improving medical care in tribal and remote areas.
At a recent review meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the urgent need to fill vacant posts in government medical colleges, including assistant professors, associate professors and professors. Plans were also discussed to increase postgraduate seats, upgrade medical infrastructure, and set up Integrated Trauma Care Centres in accident-prone areas. The government also intends to provide better incentives for doctors serving in remote regions.
Officials further reviewed measures to enhance salaries, speed up the recruitment of technical staff, and resolve issues faced by AYUSH practitioners. These steps are expected to improve healthcare delivery across Odisha and bring much-needed attention to underserved areas.
