NEET SS 2024 Possibly Cancelled: NMC Cites Admission Delay in 2021
New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently responded to an RTI request filed by activist Dr. Vivek Pandey, shedding light on the potential postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) for the year 2024. According to the disclosed information, there is a possibility that the NEET Super Speciality (SS) exam for the academic year 2024 might not take place this year. The RTI report highlighted that admissions for MD/MS and DNB courses for the academic year 2021 occurred between January and May 2022. Consequently, based on this timeline, the NEET SS 2024 might not be conducted in the current year. However, the report also mentioned that the exact date for NEET SS 2024 in 2025 will be determined at a later stage. Insights from the Minutes of Meeting of NMC, shared by Dr. Vivek Pandey, quoted the commission as stating, "Regarding NEET SS 2024, it was decided that as admissions for the academic year 2021 for MD, MS, and DNB courses were held only from January to May 2022, therefore, NEET SS 2024 may not be conducted in the current year. However, the exact date of conducting NEET SS 2024 in the year 2025 will be decided later." The meeting, chaired by Dr. Vijay Oza, President of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), took place on February 21, where the schedule for the NEET PG 2024 examination was finalized, setting the exam date for June 23, 2024.
