A group of doctors has sent a formal memorandum to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), drawing attention to a number of procedural snafus and delays in the ongoing NEET PG 2025 counselling process that are causing uncertainty for aspiring postgraduate medical students.
The letter, submitted by the United Doctors Association (UDA) under the leadership of Dr Lakshya Mittal, points out that the choice-filling window for Round 1 has been extended “until further notice” by the MCC, owing to seat-matrix revisions triggered by a pull-back of 169 DNB seats and roster adjustments. The doctors’ association argues that this delay has prevented many candidates from completing registration or submitting documents (particularly for the NRI quota) in a timely manner — despite their repeated efforts.
In light of this, the UDA has requested the authorities to reopen the registration portal and the NRI quota document submission window for a limited period. The aim is to ensure transparency, fairness and full utilisation of the seats while protecting the interests of deserving aspirants. The MCC notice clarifies that the choice-filling extension arises because the seat matrix needs revision following inputs from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The revised schedule will be uploaded on the MCC website shortly, and state-level PG counselling schedules will also be updated.
The move underscores how even small procedural hiccups can ripple into broader uncertainty for hundreds or thousands of medical aspirants. With the portal still in flux, many claim their careers are on hold until the process stabilises. The resolve of the doctors’ association to intervene reflects growing pressure on the system to improve its responsiveness and maintain candidate confidence.
