Medanta, a leading private healthcare provider in India, has announced plans to invest ₹500 crore to establish a 400-bed super-specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam. The company's board has approved the purchase of 3 acres of land from the Assam Electricity Grid Corporation for ₹30 crore, along with additional expenses for registration and possession. This new facility aims to offer advanced medical care across more than 20 specialties, including organ transplants and robotic surgeries.
The hospital will be strategically located on National Highway 27, ensuring easy access for patients from Assam and neighboring northeastern states. With this expansion, Medanta seeks to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in the region and provide world-class medical services to over 50 million people. Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, emphasized the importance of bringing high-quality healthcare to the Northeast, a region that has long been underserved.
Currently, Medanta operates hospitals in Gurugram, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Patna, with another facility under construction in Noida. The Guwahati project marks Medanta's first venture into the northeastern region of India, reflecting its commitment to expanding its footprint and making advanced healthcare accessible to more people across the country.
