In Thane, Maharashtra, three doctors have been accused of fraudulently obtaining ₹4.75 lakh from the Chief Minister's Medical Assistance Fund. They allegedly submitted fake documents to claim funds meant for poor patients. The accused include Dr. Anil Nagrale and Ganesh Mudaliyar, who are linked to Sharda Hospital. They reportedly created false proposals for 64 patients, leading to the misappropriation of the funds.
Investigations suggest that the accused used forged ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and fabricated medical reports to support their claims. The sanctioned amount was transferred to Sharda Hospital's account, which is managed by Dr. Nagrale. In his defense, Dr. Nagrale claimed he was wrongly implicated and blamed another doctor at the hospital. However, the court denied bail, emphasizing the seriousness of misusing public funds intended for the needy.
This incident has raised concerns about the potential exploitation of welfare schemes. The Chief Minister's Medical Assistance Fund is designed to help economically disadvantaged patients with their medical expenses. Authorities have stated that they will take strict action against those who misuse such schemes. Efforts are underway to strengthen the verification process to prevent future frauds.
