In a significant move to combat fraudulent medical practitioners, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) has launched the 'Know Your Doctor' platform. This innovative system allows patients to verify a doctor's credentials by scanning a QR code displayed at their practice locations. By simply using their smartphones, patients can access authentic information about their doctor's qualifications and registration status, ensuring they receive care from legitimate professionals. 

The healthcare sector in Maharashtra has been grappling with the issue of unlicensed and fraudulent medical practices, posing serious threats to patient safety, especially in vulnerable and rural areas. The introduction of QR codes aims to create a secure and transparent system, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their healthcare providers. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the prevalence of quackery in the state. 

Doctors across Mumbai have welcomed this initiative, recognizing its potential to enhance trust between patients and medical professionals.
